Contact Photography festival is on in Toronto, & I am seeing lots of appropriation of other artist’s work, used in collage…
The following images are examples of how easy it is to use someone else’s art work in a collage…
These images used 1)images from a photographer who uses photographs from the daily newspaper to make his work…I thought it appropriate that I use one of his images…Since he feels comfortable using other people’s work for free, and without permission…2) a portrait of a friend who vigorously defended the right of collage artists to use other works without permission or licensing or fees paid…Again appropriate…3)An image of my cat B’elanna, turned into a tesselation…Showing how easy it is to tessellate an image into something that can be printed onto fabric…
all of these images took about two seconds to produce…
Just a heads up, before you spend large money on photographic works, that use other people’s photography, to generate complex looking kaleidoscope images, which are then printed onto paper or fabric…It is not hard to do…
Go to Lunapic.com, upload any photo, in Effects tap the Kaleidoscope button…Take the result, and upload that to Posterjack.ca and have them print it on any material, they will even frame it for you…
I had a few more minutes today, so I created some more “works of art” (sarcasm)…If I wanted to impress you with arty language, I might say that the grey image was from someone with lung cancer, that I changed and altered the original to show the beauty & hope possible…
I could go on, making didactic statements about my alterations…Then charge you thousands of dollars for prints of my work…
